Bulk, Steel, Project, Over-Dimensional, Heavy-Lift, Forest Products and General Cargo
The Port of Longview has carved a niche as an efficient handler of dry bulk and breakbulk cargo. Bulk handling terminals include Berths 2, 5 and 7. Breakbulk cargo terminals include Berths 6, 7, 8. Future development includes Berth 9.
Trading partner countries include the Pacific Rim, Canada, South America and Europe.
DRY BULKS
Includes chemicals, minerals, fertilizers, animal feeds and grains. Port customers include Kinder Morgan Terminals, a white bulks exporter; and BP, a calcined petroleum coke exporter.
BREAKBULKS
Includes forest products, steel, project, over-dimensional and heavy-lift cargo.
Forest Products: logs, lumber, pulp and paper products.
Steel: structural steel, steel pipe and steel coil. Port customers include Brown-Strauss Steel, a Northwest structural steel distributor; North American Pipe and Steel and Cascadia Metals, Northwest steel pipe distributors.
Project, Over-Dimensional and Heavy-Lift Cargo: construction components for large scale industrial projects such as manufacturing plants, energy plants, rail projects and public transport. New Port customer Sause Bros. operates a barge service to the Hawaiian Islands that exports a variety of lumber, steel, housing and boating cargos. In 2003 wind turbine manufacturers began importing wind turbine components for energy projects throughout the U.S. and Canada.
