The Port of Longview plays an important role in local economic development by building capital projects that support jobs in manufacturing and international trade. The Port also partners in developing recreational facilities that enhance the area's natural resources and contributes towards the local regional airport.

Capital projects that support jobs create a ripple effect that strengthens the local economy. Projects also develop partnerships the build a broad base of support and generate needed funding.

Before undertaking a project, the Port determines if it is consistent with its Mission, which is to:

provide for expansion and development of trade, to encourage commercial and industrial development, and to enhance waterfront recreational opportunities, all for the economic benefit of the citizens of the port district.

Port recreational projects include partnering in the development of Willow Grove Beach Boat Launch and the Gerhart Gardens Park and Boat Launch. Both projects maximize recreational opportunities on local rivers.

The Port also contributes towards designated capital projects at the Kelso/Longview Airport.

Port projects are managed by the the Facilities and Engineering department.
